One better than the other

[edit]

The introduction says that Mount Kelly School was created by the merger of two neighboring schools, "one better than the other." Since the person who wrote this did not say which was the better school, and has not explained why it was better, I suggest this piece of editorial be deleted.

Proposed merge

[edit]

In accord with suggestions in this Teahouse thread I propose that Kelly College be merged into this article. The article now says that "Mount Kelly was established in June 2014 following the merger of two neighbouring Schools, Kelly College (founded in 1877) and Mount House School (founded in 1881)." Is there a reason to retain a separate article for Kelly College? DES (talk) 17:24, 17 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I feel that we should keep the Kelly College page to preserve the historical significance of the school, it has specific information as a college that does not translate to the new school. Mount Kelly School is a completely new organisation/business regardless of building and location history. We also need to have the two schools separated to help with google SEO, right now it is causing massive conflicts on returned results in the Knowledge Graph. • Support, but the other way round – any useful content from this page should be merged into the pre-existing article Kelly College, which should then be renamed to reflect the name-change. This page was created via AfC by DGG, who I imagine was (understandably!) not aware that we already had a page on the school under a different title, and would otherwise have declined the submission under the quick-fail criterion "already exists". • Support Let's just DELETE the 'Kelly College' page and keep 'Mount Kelly School' as it is the most up to date page and the new Schools name. The Kelly College wiki page is still incorrectly being drawn into google search for Mount Kelly. It would, at this stage, be best to delete the Kelly College page.Red Demon 2015 (talk) 15:43, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ermm, Red Demon 2015, why does Wikipedia care what results a Google search gives? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 18:23, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Having both pages is no longer necessary in Wiki. Is anyone willing to resolve the issue? The current school name is Mount Kelly. With regards to google, accurate information in SERPS is paramount to maintain wiki integrity Red Demon 2015 (talk) 14:24, 12 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Red Demon 2015, I disagree. Wikipedia simply does not care what results a Google search gives; we're not interested in, and do not tolerate, WP:PROMOTION of any kind. One thing we do pay attention to in order to maintain the integrity of the project is the matter of edits by users with a conflict of interest, and WP:PAID editors in particular. Please read with care the message I have left on your talk page. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:19, 14 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The suggestion to delete the kelly College page is disgraceful, kelly had a proud record as a minor public school for almost 100 years, that remains an historical fact worthy of retention as a separate item on Wikipedia, it will be many years before Mount Kelly equals that record whatever its merits as an educational establishment. If the current management support this idea I can only think they are afraid of the comparison. Closing merge proposal: no merge, given clear objections followed by WP:SILENCE. Klbrain (talk) 22:01, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest

[edit]

At least one major contributor to this article appears to have a close personal or professional connection to the topic, and thus to have a conflict of interest. Conflict-of-interest editors are strongly discouraged from editing the article directly, but are always welcome to propose changes on the talk page (i.e., here). You can attract the attention of other editors by putting {{request edit}} (exactly so, with the curly parentheses) at the beginning of your request, or by clicking the link on the lowest yellow notice above. Requests that are not supported by independent reliable sources are unlikely to be accepted.

Please also note that our Terms of Use state that "you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation." An editor who contributes as part of his or her paid employment is required to disclose that fact. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 13:40, 28 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request

[edit]

There are repeated additions to this page referring to the Mount Kelly International School, which are factually incorrect and refer to media speculation. Whilst this media speculation can of course be mentioned, it is being presented as fact and also with bias, not giving balance to the article. Also the article in English is badly worded. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.6.229.182 (talk) 09:15, 8 November 2016‎ (UTC)[reply]

Done. I've cut the material down to what is in the sources (SCMP, Standard) and improved the wording. ---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 15:43, 18 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict-of-interest editing continues

[edit]

Someone from the school has been editing the page recently. That is strongly discouraged by our conflict-of-interest guidelines. The usual form of discouragement is immediate reversion of such edits. 62.172.33.147, please read the section headed Conflict of interest above, and confine your contributions to this page, the talk-page of the article.
